Tashmarine (tm) is a new gemstone discovered in the former Soviet Union. Cousin to Chrome Diopside (with the same hardness: 5.5 to 6 on the Mohs scale) it’s color is halfway between Peridot and blue-green Tourmaline. The color is natural and the gems are not heated or irradiated as so many are nowadays. I propose Tashmarine (tm) as a new alternate birthstone for August! Tashmarine Info (tm)
