Ring Sizing
We do superb quality ring sizing.
Important factors in ring sizing are that the shank not be weakened, gems stay secure, and the ring fit well after sizing. In most cases we can size a ring up or down in such a way as to have an invisible sizing joint.
We cut the shank, spread it the correct distance and weld in a bridge that matches the existing shank so it looks as good as new when finished. We don't use solder, we actually fuse the gold together so that there is no weak, brittle spot where it was sized. Our Laser jewelry welder (the only one in Naples) also allows us to work on rings that can't be worked on with a jewelers torch. (Depending on the ring, this is not always possible however.)
The ideal size has the ring fitting comfortably on the finger, but it is a little bit hard to get off. This allows pleasant wearing without the risk of losing the ring. We really measure to fit the knuckle, not the finger, since that is how the ring has to get on and off.
For Large Knuckle Problems. There are several systems we can use to make the ring fit better.
ForeverFit, Superfit, Fingerfit, or Fingermate. These allow the ring to actually open to get over a large knuckle and then close to fit the finger comfortably. Highly Recommended.

In each of these cases, the original ring is
cut and this shank is welded in place. The top of the original ring is
kept and the rest of the ring is now the ForeverFit, Superfit, Fingerfit, or Fingermate

Cleats. These are gold balls soldered into the shank of the ring to help it grip the finger.
Horseshoe Spring. This is a leaf spring soldered into the shank to grip the finger from both sides.
Wrap. This is a strip of gold that is wrapped into the shank to reduce
the diameter of the opening and keep the ring tight on the finger.
A solution for rings with worn shanks that also spin is the "Barry"
shank:
Reshank. When a ring shank (the bottom) gets worn and thin, it will
crack and needs to be replaced. Here is an example of a "reshank"
job in which I replaced the worn out, thin shank (left) with a "Barry"
shank. It is thicker and also has corners. The corners keep the ring
from spinning on the finger by adding a little extra weight at the bottom and
also resisting turn by bumping into the next finger. A very comfortable
shank.
