Diamonds

The birthstone for April is Diamond. Diamonds were believed to give soldiers courage and virtue and also to be talismans against nightmares and phantoms. Diamond is associated with incorruptibility and invincibility, is a symbol of constancy and sincerity, signifies purity and maintains peace, and is believed to disperse storms.

Diamonds were originally worn only by men and they became a fashion for women when Agnes Sorel, the mistress of King Charles VII of France, began wearing them in the 19th Century. Diamonds are also used to celebrate the 10th and 60th wedding anniversaries...but they are great for celebrating anything, anytime!
